I’ve just switched to XP (Pro) so I’m still getting used to its foibles. Again, if this has been covered I apologise for repitition.
In a previous life I could arrange the icons in any folder by several straightforward ways inluding ‘date modified’.

In XP I get a greatly increased number of options to arrange the music files. Some are ok but I cannot seem to order my music into the way that they were put into the folder.
There is no ‘date modified’ option for arrange icons. There is a year option but that only sorts on the year of the piece of music or the album it came from.

I thought the ‘customize folder’ option might help but no. Music files can only be treated as per the default menu. Does anyone know of a way round this?

I often wish to quickly look for recently saved items without having to look for names or titles.

      Switch to Detail view.
If Date Modified is one of the displayed columns, you can sort on it by clicking the column header (clicking the column header a second time will reverse the sort order.)
If Date Modified is not displayed, select View | Select Details… and check Date Modified.
If you switch to one of the other views after sorting in Detail view, the sort order will remain the same.

        Thanks Hans
The solution worked a treat from the ‘choose details’ menu item.
Must confess I didn’t even notice it was there before.
I need to browse more cheers
