Those little tooltips you can create on the property sheet for fields is no longer working. I can enter the tips but they don’t pop up when you hover. I can’t think that I’ve done anything to affect them and I’ve looked into everything I can think of.
Any ideas folks?
Peter

Have a look at Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 232191 ControlTip Text Not Displayed When You Hold Mouse Pointer Over Control and see if it apply to your form.

For some of my fields in formview I’ve created ControlTip text which used to pop up to remind you what you should put in a field. It’s not on a network and only two of us use the db so we probably don’t need them now. I just wondered how they would stop working. I’ve no idea when it happened but it just occurred to me recently that they weren’t popping up any more. It could have been going on for months.
Regardless of how long I point the mouse, move away, come back – they just don’t work.
I really don’t want anyone to ‘bust a gut’ on this, I just thought someone would know the answer from previous experience. I can’t find a ‘switch’ that turns them on and off.

AskWoody LoungerApril 21, 2002 at 3:29 pm #583711No, there’s no switch. If you have text in the ControlTip property for the control, the tooptip should pop up when you hover the mouse over the control. However, sometimes you have to bring the control to the front to make sure the mouse is actually hovering over *that* control and not something else. Over events can also interfere with the tooltip. For example, if you have a MouseMove event for the control, that will take precedence over the tooltip and you may never see it. If your form is in datasheet view, you won’t see tooltips.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 15, 2004 at 4:09 pm #888465I know this is rather old… but I am experiencing the same problem. Tool tips do not appear on this computer. Operating system is Win2K, Access is XP and 97. Recent changes to the computer involved joining a Windows network Domain — previously was on Novell Netware (hopefully not related, but is has been a significant change to the machine.)
Tooltips used to work in an application that I have developed in AXP and A97 — now neither of them work. Creating a new database, with a single form, and a single command button with some ToolTip text also doesn’t work. Repeated the experiment with another computer on the network using AXP, and the tooltip worked properly. Wondering whether having both versions of Access on this computer may be related?
The knowledge board article cited is no longer available.
Any idea where to look to find the solution? Thanks.
