Unfortunately, Word does not perform a spell check in fields.

The only workaround that I know of is to create your document in sections. In the parts that require Text fields, don’t insert a field.

For example, I created a Fax cover page template and inserted a Continuous Section break just above the Comments on the bottom half of the cover page. When I protected the form, I told it to only protect Section 1 (all of the header info) and not Section 2. The only part of the fax cover page that could be spell checked was the Comments section.

This will only work on some documents, of course, so it may not work for you at all. shrug

I hope this helps at least a little!

It’s possible with VBA- check out How to enable the spellchecker in a protected document
