I just recently switched back to my desktop pc from a laptop. My Outlook settings were still there so I basically picked up where I left off but using the .pst file that was on my laptop. On a few occasions I’ve noticed as e-mail is arriving that it shows briefly in the Inbox and then disappears (like a rule is set up). I’ve checked the rules but nothing is set up there. I can’t seem to find where this mail is going. I’ve checked all e-mail folders as well as deleted items and there is nothing there. Any suggestions?

I think the first and easiest thing to do is to check and see what your view is doing. With the folder selected, View Menu, Current view, Customize… You may find a filter set up in there.

Thanks. I checked, but the Filter is off.

I have seen this happen when the VIEW is either set to view only “READ messages” or only “UNREAD Messages”.

Click on the folder you are having the problem with and choose VIEW -> CURRENT VIEW, and what is checked? Is it Messages or something else?

Since you say you aren’t using views and filters, search your drive for additional psts. If you ever used multiple psts and rules to move messages to a pst, you might have a wayward rule.

Thanks. After my initial post I did find another .pst file hanging around. I wound up having to create a new profile, but I was able to remove that file from the folder list.
