I’ve been running O2K Prof for about 2 years (maybe a bit less) and I have no problems with it. Is there any good reason to bother with the Service Release packs (I have none at the moment).

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerJune 18, 2001 at 5:41 am #529828That depends very much on the applications and features you’re using in Office 2k. If you use Access, then you absolutely SHOULD apply SR1a because it fixes several very annoying problems with Access 2000. I have had no problems whatsoever with SR1a, although I have avoided SR2 on Woody’s recommandation.

AskWoody LoungerJune 18, 2001 at 2:28 pm #529871That’s one I never tested. The big problem as far as I was concerned was with Autonumber fields. If you appended records to a table with an autonumber field, including values appended into the autonumber field itself, the next autonumber will probably try to start at 1 or at least at the next highest number before you appended the records. I use autonumbers extensively, and that was a problem I was delighted to see cured in SR1a.

AskWoody LoungerJune 21, 2001 at 2:08 am #530281it depends if you use outlook or not. if you don’t sp2 is fine.
sp2 adds the security features often referred to as “Outlook Hell” that many people like to avoid. In all honesty, i’ve been working for a few weeks with outlook 2002 without using exchange server admin for or the com addin and it really is not as annoying as i expected.
