We are using Firefox Version 97.0 on a Windows 10 workstation and would like to use the large search box under the Firefox logo as the primary area to enter search text.

However, on one of our PCs when we start typing the search string in the large search box the text moves to the “Search Bar” in the toolbar at the top of the window.

Is there a way to prevent the search feature in the toolbar from operating?

It’s a pretty quick procedure. I’ve done it a few times on PCs and Macs. You do want to be a bit careful when you’re in about:config (hence the warning you’ll see, although the warning is somewhat overdramatic IMHO). Good idea to keep your pet cat or hamster away from the keyboard mouse and touchpad.
