GuestJuly 7, 2020 at 1:29 pm #2278271Microsoft has historically blocked updates on their own Surface lineup, so I’m skeptical of this claim that “89%” of them are running the new version of Windows 10 already. In any case, it’s definitely clear that the hardware division of Microsoft has limited communication and collaboration with the software division, if Microsoft’s own computers aren’t being properly tested and verified to run the new updates.

Has happened before, and it’s happening again.
It’s Microsoft. Nothing surprises me anymore.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 7, 2020 at 2:33 pm #2278323Doesn’t give me a lot of confidence when Microsoft feels it doesn’t even work on their own devices. I have also noticed some PC maker notebooks are mysteriously absent from being certified for 2004. Makes me wonder if they ever will be, my wife’s HP Envy from 2017 apparently didn’t make the grade and was not tested and certified from HP for 2004. Not sure why? If its a driver issue, legacy hardware or simply won’t be compatible.

AskWoody_MVPJuly 7, 2020 at 8:03 pm #2278417well John, my bro’s HP Spectre x360 refurbished 2019 15-df1033dx laptop did make the cut for the 2004 feature update but I used the wushowhide.diagcab tool to prevent the Win10 v1909 Home OS from attempting to upgrade to it – his HP laptop uses Realtek audio drivers.
maybe your wife’s HP Envy laptop uses Conexant audio drivers – outdated Conexant drivers may prevent the 2004 update from showing up on WU – what’s the specific model of her laptop?
