• Cursor changed to a black rectangle in Win10 v1909

After a recent upgrade of my Windows 10 (I was using V. 1909 without
problems) the cursor on any text-editing page changed to a black
rectangle which I do not like mainly because it obscures the insertion
point. Do you know how to get the cursor back to what it was before? I
have tried using Settings/ mouse/pointers with no effect. I will be very
grateful for any help you can give me.

Check at Settings, Ease of Access, Text cursor, Change the text cursor thickness.

If that got set to the maximum 20, the cursor appears as a square black box.

The default setting of 2 is more traditional.
