I just saw the report on Paul Thurrott’s site (paywall), showing how Win10 version 1903 usage is increasing — now up to 11% of all Win10 usage — whi

ManagerJuly 29, 2019 at 7:42 am #1896127I suspect there will be a spike in Win10 usage around the end of the year with people upgrading their current machines or replacing their Win7 machines before EOL. This will probably increase both the 1809 and 1903 market share, depending on the installed version. But 1809 can only last so long and probably not beyond its End of Life, which means 1903 should increase rapidly in 2020.
I look for Win7 to stay strong for a while also. -

I look for Win7 to stay strong for a while also.Don’t forget that Microsoft is forcing home users with 1803 to 1903 and some Enterprise users from 1809 to 1903.

AskWoody_MVPJuly 29, 2019 at 9:59 am #1896185The data from AdDuplex is very, very biased.
Biased towards what exactly? It’s a very recent survey of 100,000 PCs running Windows 10.

Ed Bott has a thorough analysis:
Has Microsoft accelerated its latest Windows 10 rollout? Not so fast
Is speedy rollout of Windows 10 version 1803 causing quality problems?
There’s a reason why I don’t rely on AdDuplex for anything important.

Which would be all 100,000 or they couldn’t be measured. Why assume that’s not a reasonably representative cross-section of Windows 10 users?
I wouldn’t question that the AdDuplex data may be unreliable, as it’s a relatively small sample. But I don’t see how it can be biased towards one version or another of Windows 10.

AskWoody PlusJuly 29, 2019 at 7:51 pm #1896604Nope, nope, nope. Staying on Win8.1 until Woody & MVP’s here bless Win10 1909 AKA 19H2 AKA “1903 Service Pack”. No reason to be a fool rushing into 1903 AKA cannon fodder! I’ve waited 4 years today to upgrade to Windows 10, another 5-6 months can’t hurt. Cortana’s no big deal anymore; I occasionally say “Hey Google” to my Android phone. Shout-outs to Cortana will be as rare as to Google Assistant… I think.
Bought a refurbished Windows 10 64-bit, currently updated to 22H2. Have broke the AC adapter cord going to the 8.1 machine, but before that, coaxed it into charging. Need to buy new adapter if wish to continue using it.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 30, 2019 at 2:17 pm #1896906I started pushing 1903 via WSUS last week. Started the push to 5 machines and then another 5 a few days later. Most or all of those machines are running 1803. I had around 6 machines fail the install and our I.S. Director complained about the broken search so I have withdrawn the push and will wait a bit longer for this.
I did find a fix for the broken search but requires running a powershell script. I don’t want to deal with that on a large number of machines so we’re on hold for now.
