I’ve been following Sven Taylor over at restoreprivacy dot com who has published a comprehensive article regarding the choices of a private-search-engine
Covering startpage and duck-duck-go to privacy orientated alternatives. If you are concerned about search engine privacy or just curious, give it a read. A few opened my eyes with regards to jurisdiction and my thinking was that European based engines conform to GDPR, which is why I personally prefer and use Startpage.
