• Attempt to start Office 2016 programs fails with error 0xc0000142

  I’m stumped.

  Any time I try to start one of my Office programs, I get

  

  I’m running Office Pro Plus 2016 version 16.0.13029.20344 on Win10 version 1909.

  I’ve tried running an sfc /scannow – which reported that it fixed some corrupt files:

  

  But even after rebooting, I’m still getting the error 0xc0000142.

  I tried a manual run of OfficeClickToRun.exe /update, as admin, and it didn’t help either.

  Any idea what to try next?

  UPDATE: Rebooted again, and Word popped up immediately, no problem. There’s a reason why I’ve switched to Google Docs for just about everything…

  For those of you trying to get your kids hooked into their Zoom classes this morning, I have a bit of bad news, at least in the US.

  It’s now working here in middle Tennessee. More than two hours on the ropes.
