A brilliant engineer – whether you agreed with her designs or not – is leaving, “to pursue new adventures in building great teams and customer-first products,” according to Mary Jo Foley.

Hers is an amazing story — from lead developer on Visual C++ to Clippy killer, to a rumored candidate for Microsoft CEO. She stepped down as head of the Office user interface design job this past May. I wrote about her then.
