• Getting caught up with Win7 patches

    We’re at MS-DEFCON 3, and it’s a very good time to get caught up. Either that, or wait for everybody to start bugging you around the holidays.

    I just got an email from BDL:

    My website for AskWoody has been a mess. But maybe I am just confused! The large amount of updates for November that you have mentioned, have never come in on my windows 7 sp1 x64 home premium desktop. I keep the 3 diagnostics disabled and windows update disabled until I am ready to collect and sort and install the right updates. Am I doing something wrong?

    My response:

    There’s no reason to disable Windows Update.

    Turn on the disabled diagnostic, enable Windows update, then start here:
