• ETA for the AskWoody Lounge: Sunday night

    UPDATE: We’re slowing down the pace, to make sure all of the “i”s are dotted and the “x”s crossed. Look for a gradual rollout over the coming couple of weeks.

    I’m not saying it’s perfect, but I am saying it’s much better.

    Looks like the AskWoody Lounge will go live over the next week or two. I hope.

    This blog – the part you see right now – won’t change much. But the Lounge appendage will add all sorts of new capabilities.

    Anonymous comments will always be welcome and encouraged – and they’ll be individually moderated (reviewed) to my stuck-in-the-mud criteria (no personal attacks, no swearing, no politics/religion).

    If you’re willing to register, though, there are several distinct advantages to AskWoody Loungers: Your replies will be published directly (although they’ll be subject to review by the moderators), there’s all sorts of new tools (including the ability to upload GIFs and JPGs in your reply), and it’ll be easier to do things like sign up for email notifications on new posts.

    At the same time, slowly, we’re going to grow out the content on the site. There will be forums specifically for asking questions about Windows, Office, and other platforms (including, yes, Linux for Windows users, macOS, iOS, ChromeOS and Android). The AskWoody Knowledge Base will hold answers that don’t necessarily agree with what Microsoft wants you to believe. I hope to archive some of the discussions we’ve had here. And everything will be much, much easier to search.

    We’re very fortunate to have several of the luminaries here at AskWoody signed up as AskWoody MVPs. They’re people you know and trust – even if they don’t agree with me!

    Most of all, I hope the AskWoody Lounge will bring out the best discussions of Microsoft-related hardware and software, unhampered by the Microsoft Party Line, for guru and Dummy alike.
