• AskWoody is going down for repairs on Nov 23, US Thanksgiving day

    We’re all painfully aware of the problems with this site. The devs have been working on a shadow site that includes all of the latest content, but replaces the plumbing with something more stable.

    Since Microsoft is basically closed starting on US Thanksgiving day, November 23, I’ve chosen that as the target date for swapping out the old site, and bringing in the new. With a little luck, you’ll see almost no difference between the old and new site, although some of the old favorites will be back, like the list of most recent posts, the Search widget, and the sign in block in the upper right corner.

    If this works properly, the old flakiness will become a thing of the past.

    Hard to believe we built out the Lounge just ten months ago.

    Anyway, we’re going offline early in the morning on Nov. 23, and I expect the site will be down for a day or two. In the interim, we’ll continue to limp along with what we’ve got.
