If you’re running Windows 10 Anniversary Update – could you check something?
Could you click on Cortana and see if the “Notebook” icon appears on the left, below the “Home” icon?
Several people (including PKCano) are reporting that they have machines where Cortana is disabled.
If you don’t see the Notebook icon – if Cortana is disabled – could you check the registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows. See if you can find the subkey \Windows Search\AllowCortana. If AllowCortana is set to 0, that’s supposed to disable Cortana. If the key Windows Search or AllowCortana aren’t there, that’s supposed to enable Cortana.
I wonder if that’s the source of the problem.
Thanks….
