• Debate: How important is it to install ALL Win7/8.1 patches?

    kitchen_debateFigured I’d kick this one out to the crowd.

    With October just around the corner, we have two factions here. Their deliberations influence the choice between “Group A” (those who allow Microsoft to install all patches on their Win7 and 8.1 machines) and “Group B” (those who will manually install just security patches) for many Windows customers.

    Expect to see a lot of discussion from me about those two groups. Deciding between them will be a key decision all Win7 and 8.1 users need to make.

    Before the fireworks begin, I’d like to pose a single question that’s actually a limited subset of the Group A/Group B (Group W) debate:

    Is there any good reason to install ALL of the Win7 patches, as they roll out from October onward?

    Past history, tests, observations, hard won experience most welcome.
