• Google Earth vs Microsoft Virtual Earth

There’s a flurry of activity among journalists at the moment, trying to compare the relative merits of two new mapping products, Google Earth (which is derived from Keyhole, a tremendous CIA-funded 3D mapping program that’s been around for years), and Microsoft Virtual Earth (which BillG seems to have adopted during his latest annual retreat).

    One problem. It’s all vapor.

It’s exciting, useful technology (check either Web site for shots). But until it’s hooked into my browser, I’ll stay skeptical.
