Interested in the history of Windows?
Here’s a must-read.
There have been many luminaries in Windows’ development – Gates and Ballmer, of course, Dave Cutler’s recently taken the limelight, Paul Maritz, and a brilliant array of engineers, designers, marketers.
The two that have always fascinated me the most are Jim Allchin and Brad Silverberg. Maybe that’s because I cut my journalistic teeth at the time. Maybe it’s because they both triggered decisions that resonate in the Windows world today.
Anyway, I was delighted to stumble on a Quora session from Brad Silverberg, in which he discusses Gates, Ballmer, Nadella, business decisions, Seattle, and venture capitalism (his current pursuit). If you’re curious about how we got to where we are, it’s a very interesting read.
