• In praise of AutoPatcher

    From reader GP:

I appreciate your efforts to bring to light all the nonsense that Microsoft has been doing with all their Win10 coercion and ‘spywareing’ of Win 7…pretty sad that one has to resort to the methods you have suggested to protect your system from the OS the manufacturer is deliberately sabotaging… oh well.

The ‘convenience rollup’ brought to mind a method I have been using for a long time, and not seen mentioned anywhere on your pages I have read.

Anyway, before the ‘convenience rollup’ I would (and still will..) use AutoPatcher, you can download the entire updates list, and then using your ‘bad list’ as an example…you can mark the proper KBs as bad, then search through the list and remove the KB entries and KBs themselves.

Autopatcher will still run and install the remainders after culling the garbage..

There are other similiar update rollup packages and manual download lists around, but for me AP is most convenient.

Personally, I have had enough of this, my future will likely be a small linux distro such as SLAX with a VirtualBox module running XP or 7 for online work.

Again, thank you for your efforts.

    Cheers.

Please realize that I’m not endorsing AP – there are many posting here who have much more experience with it than I do. But I would be interested in hearing your comments!
