• Edge and battery consumption

    Good question from BC:

Not sure if this is your area of expertise. If not, please ignore.

    That said….

If I may, wanted to see if you could comment on the following.

Get more out of your battery with Microsoft Edge
    https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/06/20/more-battery-with-edge/

    And this video from Microsoft.

Please let me know if you have any brief thoughts on the veracity of Microsoft’s claims vs. Chrome.

    Thank you very much.

    Here’s my response:

I’m sure Microsoft’s test shows Edge is best.

I’m also sure that Opera’s test shows Opera is best.
No doubt there’s some combination of factors that shows Firefox has the best battery performance. Maybe even Chrome (although Chrome’s kind of a hog). Check out the battery drain on a Chromebook.
Bottom line: Battery life is important, sure, but browser battery drainage doesn’t really matter all that much to me. It’s like the old performance indices (remember the Windows Experience Index?) that are subject to all sorts of tweaking.
