• Clean install of Windows 10

    Got a good question from MR:

    I’ve been reading Windows 10 for Dummies to bolster my nerves before installing Windows 10 on my on my Windows 8.1 Sony Vaio laptop.  The Sony is two years old and has always been slow and troublesome.
    1. Can I do a clean install of Windows 10 without any of the Sony/Vaio software?  
    2. How do I install W-10 without any Sony junk?

    Easiest way is to take advantage of Microsoft’s “Get Windows 10” campaign. No doubt you’ve seen many offers to upgrade to Win10.

    In the process of upgrading, much of the crap will get thrown away – but if you want to then get a super-clean machine, go here

    Back up your data. Download the file, put it on a USB drive, and boot from the USB drive. You’ll end up with a completely clean machine. You’ll have to re-install your programs and copy back your data afterwards.
    That first step is necessary to “validate” your copy of Windows. Once the machine’s been validated, you can wipe it out and start all over.
