KB3095649 is described as Win 8.1-only, but also apparently applies to Win7
For those of you fretting over the updates pushed down the Automatic Update chute yesterday, note that KB3095649 is for both Windows 8.1 and Windows 7. Reader CA writes:
Well, this is nice. KB3095649 shows up in Windows Update on my Win 7 Ultimate machines (optional).
I check the KB article and it states that it’s for:
1) Windows 8.1, and
2) Windows Server 2012
No mention of Windows 7. Is this another MS screw-up?
Yep, but the screw-up is in the documentation.
The official Windows Update list says this:

Locale: All
Deployment: Optional/Automatic Updates, WSUS, and Catalog
Classification: Updates, Non-Security
Target platforms: Windows 8.1, Windows RT* 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2
Approximate file sizes:

Windows 7 update: ~ 1147KB
Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 update: ~ 1522KB

Looks like the patch is going out to both Win7 and Win8.1 machines.
Of course, we’re at MS-DEFCON 2, so I strongly recommend that you not install this one, or any of the other patches that appeared yesterday.
